1. Registry Mechanic:
Out of all the registry utilities available on the market today,
perhaps the most well known of these is Registry Mechanic.
We all know that the most popular of things isn't always the
best, so this doesn't tell us whether or not Registry
Mechanic is any good. In light of this, we decided to review
Registry Mechanic in order to see if it lived up to its own
reputation.
Registry Mechanic -- Fast:
The first time run of Registry Mechanic began a scan of the system in order to determine the state of the
registry system. Despite the fact that the registry contains massive amounts of information, the scan
took very little time and still managed to find quite a few errors within the registry. Put simply, this
program was the fastest out of all the registry cleaners that we have reviewed. If it had been any faster,
it would have been as if there were never any registry errors at all!

Registry Mechanic -- Easy:
What it lacks in style, Registry Mechanic makes up for in ease of use. You are presented with three
buttons of relatively large size within the center of the window. These buttons allow for you to perform
several different functions, ranging from scanning the registry to compacting it. You are also able to
create backups of your registry, in case something goes wrong in the future. As for the "Optimize Your
System" option, we did not try this. It presented us with no options for controlling this optimization nor
did it tell us what exactly it was going to do. Better safe than sorry.
Registry Mechanic -- Options:
There's always the argument between those who like to have confirmation boxes and those who don't.
Registry Mechanic sides with those who dislike confirmation boxes. When you click "Scan Your Registry",
the process begins immediately, without prompting you for confirmation. Once it starts, the process
runs quickly through your registry and reports any of the errors that it finds. This is where the options
come in. You are able to choose between letting the program automatically fix the errors, or you may
repair the individual registry values manually. This can be a useful tool for those looking for a little more
control over their software.
Registry Mechanic -- Optimization:
The key to having things run as fast as possible is optimization. Registry Mechanic provides you with the
ability to relocate registry values so that the wasted spaces in between the various entries are removed.
2. This enables the computer to run significantly faster. Just imagine that you had to flip ahead five or six
pages in your book just to get to the next sentence! By removing all of these gaps, Registry Mechanic
ensures that your computer's registry will be operating at peak performance.
Registry Mechanic -- Inclosing:
No matter how you slice it, this program is definitely complete. It has all of the functions necessary and
uses them in a very good way. The optimization through compacting feature is perhaps one of the most
unique functions, found in only a few other programs, but implemented best here. While the interface
may be a bit bland, it makes it clear that the people who made it were much more concerned about
getting the job done than making it look pretty. This is perhaps the most reliable registry cleaner out
there.
